Crysalis House

I guess we'll overwinter here
Like the late monarchs
on our strawberry plants
stay tucked inside a while more
til Winter's cozy, warm and close
turns Spring's cramped, brittle, tight
I know the signs
the colorus start to turn
impatient orange and flash of black
replace placable green
the cracks appear
we strain against
safe haven now confining
then time to fly
beyond this close horizon
